TRAVEL DIARY: PUERTO RICO

Last week I celebrated my birthday with some friends and we took a trip to beautiful San Juan, Puerto Rico!

This was my first time visiting and I can definitely say it will not be the last! Puerto Rico is such an amazing island where the locals are very welcoming and you're surrounded by beautiful ocean views, historic landmarks, and some of THE best food I've ever eaten.

Now, let's talk about the food! My favorite dish while visiting PR was hands down the Mofongo! Mofongo is a Puerto Rican dish made up of fried plantains as the main ingredient and its traditionally stuffed with chicken, steak, veggies or shrimp. Mmm, I can still taste this yummy dish!

We were told the best Mofongo in Puerto Rico was at a restaurant called Punto de Vista.  Located on the rooftop of the Hotel Milano in Old San Juan, PR this place did NOT disappoint! From the great service, city views and of course the ridiculously delicious food, if you're traveling to San Juan I would highly recommend this place.

Our server suggested trying the two most popular Mofongos—Mofongo Relleno, both stuffed with steak, one topped with a creamy garlic sauce and the other with a sweet criollo sauce. We ordered a couple of their tasty piña coladas (also recommend) to make the meal experience complete!

Sightseeing in Old San Juan during the day is a another must! I took sooooo many photos this day it was hard to chose which ones to post, I finally narrowed it down to a few of my favs!

Visiting these gorgeous colorful historic buildings was one of my favorites part of the trip.

Old San Juan also has some of the the best shopping, restaurants and nightlife.

Santa Maria Magdalena de plaza has a beautiful cemetery overlooking the Atlantic Ocean.

A few things to pack when traveling to Puerto Rico:

1. Bug spray- The OFF! spray worked wonders for me and kept all of the mosquitoes away.
2. Sunscreen—LOTS of it!
3. An extension cord (recommended when traveling with your girlfriends, extra outlets are a must-have)
4. Swimsuits - Mannnny of them
5. Lightweight clothes -Its gets really warm there (of course)
6. Gym clothes - For outdoor actives such as, zip-lining and hiking in the rainforest.
7. Camera- The island is soooo beautiful you definitely don't want to miss out on the epic views.

I had such an amazing time in Puerto Rico, and I plan to go back soon. We planned for the trip to be 4 days, but  it turned out to be 3 days due to travel delays, which my friends and I agreed was definitely not long enough but overall the trip was still soon amazing trip.

What are some of your favorite items to bring when traveling?

xo Felicia!
